The new BMW 2-series has already been seen in camouflage costume several times, but never before has the new 2-series Coupé showed so much of its definitive design as on this brand-new set of spy plates.
The BMW 2-series Coupé is succeeded by a completely new model that you should actually see separately from the 2-series Gran Coupé and the current and next-generation 2-series Tourer. The Gran Coupé and the Tourer are on the basic front-wheel drive UKL platform, while the new 2-series Coupé becomes a rear-wheel drive model again. The new 2-series Coupé will be on a shortened version of the CLAR platform, a basis that we also find among the current 3 and 4-series. We can reassure those who don’t like the large grille of the 4-series Coupé and Cabrio. This set of spy plates definitively confirm that the new 2-Series Coupé will get a much more subtle and therefore flatter design version of the BMW signature grille.
Furthermore, the definitive headlights of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé are on display. The 2 Series Coupé gets viewers with a small spur towards the grille. The rear lights are still fanatically covered with camouflage stickers, although the global shape of the rear lighting is already visible. Just like the current model, the new 2-series Coupé will have relatively small rear lights. Another striking design element: Just like the electric i4, the BMW 2 Series Coupé gets handles that are slightly recessed into the doors. BMW also has a heavy M2 in the barrel, a sporty top version that has already passed the lens of our spy photographer. We expect the new 2-Series Coupé on the market next year. It is not yet clear whether there will be an open 2-series Convertible again.
