This month, Apple announced upgrades for the iPad Pro, iMac and Apple TV in addition to the AirTag and purple iPhone 12.
- The iPad Pro 2021 has a beautiful Liquid Retina XDR screen, the same hardware as the new iMac and can handle 5G internet.
- The iMac 2021 has been given a fresh look with the thinnest housing ever for an Apple computer and thanks to the powerful M1 chip, it can run iPhone and iPad apps, for example.
- The new Apple TV 4K has a new Siri Remote remote control and an even better picture quality thanks to Dolby Vision and HDR.
The new Apple products can be pre-ordered from this afternoon. Those who pre-order quickly will (probably) receive their order on 21 May. Apple has not disclosed what time the pre-order will start, but normally the store turns around promptly 2:00 pm Open.
In this article, we’ll give you some practical tips to make your order run as smoothly as possible.
1. Be on time
The most important and first tip is simple: make sure you are on time! New Apple devices are incredibly popular, so you are certainly not the only one who will buy a new iMac, iPad Pro or Apple TV.
So set your alarm and make sure you well before 2:00 pm is ready behind your pc. Are you going to order from Apple yourself? In the run-up to the launch of new products, the Apple webshop always goes offline for a few hours.
As soon as the shop doors open again, it is important to order as soon as possible. Apple never discloses how much stock there is and usually delivery times add up quickly.
2. Which iMac or iPad Pro do you want? Make your choice in advance
Another important pre-order tip is Make choices. Make sure you know in plenty of time which product you want to buy. That’s easier said than done. You can almost always purchase Apple products in multiple colors, models and configurations.
When ordering the new iMac, for example, you have to choose from seven colors. There is also plenty to determine in the hardware area. For example, the entry-level iMac 2021 does not have an Ethernet connection and the Magic Keyboard comes without a Touch ID button, unlike the more expensive versions.
If we look at the iPad Pro 2021, you have to choose between two screen sizes: 11 or 12.9 inches. The small model has an LCD screen, while the larger iPad Pro has a much better mini LED display. Also consider in advance whether you need 5G internet or not. The version without mobile internet is of course cheaper, but it is not possible to add 5G to your iPad Pro 2021 afterwards.
Ordering the Apple TV 4K (2021) is a lot easier. You can only buy Apple’s media player in black and there is also nothing to choose in terms of hardware. So no choice stress!
3. Stores: where will you order?
You can of course order new Apple products from Apple itself, but more roads lead to Rome. You can buy the new iMac, iPad Pro and Apple TV at almost all major retailers.
So now take a look around where you might want to order. You can also spread your chances by leaving several tabs open around 2:00 PM with the order pages from different web shops. If your favorite iMac or iPad Pro is sold out somewhere, you always have a backup that way.
In any case, make sure that you are already logged in to the store where you are going to order. You don’t want to have to create an account in a hurry to be able to buy something. Also check immediately whether your address details, e-mail address and payment method are correct.

4. The iMac, iPad Pro, or Apple TV first, then the rest
We said it already: new Apple products usually sell out in no time. If you really don’t feel like doing this, it is better to order the most important product for you first, and then the rest.
So first buy the iMac, iPad Pro or Apple TV and only then start ordering any matching accessories. Peripherals are almost always in good stock, unlike brand new Apple equipment.
5. Check your payment limit
Finally, a small, but very important pre-order tip: check in advance whether you have a daily limit for internet banking. Can’t you buy a new iMac or iPad Pro with this, for example because you can only transfer 500 euros per day? Then (temporarily) increase your payment limit.
When you order the new iPad Pro or iMac from Apple, you can do this not only via the site, but also via the Apple Store app. Experience shows that this sometimes works faster and easier than the website. It is also sometimes easier and faster to get through the digital queue via the app.
Release date and prices of the iPad Pro 2021, iMac 2021 and Apple TV
Apple itself is somewhat mysterious and reports that the new items will be available “mid-May”. Anonymous sources reported last week that the release date of the iPad Pro 2021, iMac 2021 and new Apple TV is on May 21. We therefore expect that the quick decision-makers will receive their new showpiece that day.
The new Apple products will also be in stores from that day on. Whether you can order them directly is still the question, because you will probably have to deal with a (considerable) delivery time.
The iPad Pro 2021 starts at 899 euros, for the iMac you are at least 1,449 euros and the Apple TV 4K (2021) has a fixed suggested retail price of 199 euros.
