Vinfast, a Vietnamese car manufacturer that has launched a range of electric models, is coming to Europe. That was already known, but now the CEO is speaking specifically about the Netherlands.
Although Vinfast is still an unknown name for the average Dutch consumer, the brand has an offer that looks interesting. At the beginning of this year, it showed the VF31, VF32 and VF33, three electrically powered SUVs, respectively for the C, D and E segments, which they also intend to market in Europe. Vinfast provides them with powertrains that promise performance that we can expect from EVs in those segments.
The VF31 (photos 1 and 2) is 116 hp and has a range of 300 km. Above that is the 204 hp (1 motor) or 409 hp (2 motors) strong VF32 (photos 3 to 6), which must reach at least 504 km on a full battery. The largest, the VF33 (photos 7 to 10), always has 409 electric horsepower and, according to Vinfast, reaches 550 km. You can’t argue about taste, but they don’t look crazy either.

So promising, and there is good news for the Netherlands. A European introduction was already in the pipeline, now Vinfast CEO Nguyen Thi Van Anh clarifies that: “We are going to North America and Europe at the same time. In Europe we are going to Germany, France and the Netherlands,” said Anh. Reuters. We are therefore one of the three lucky ones, although of course it remains to be seen whether Vinfast really adds something to the Dutch market. Anh does not want to comment on prices yet, but he does state that the market introduction here will take place in 2022. We wait anxiously.
