Volkswagen Polo GTI soon in a new look

The sixth generation Volkswagen Polo was recently facelifted, but the GTI was not yet in sight. This will soon change.

The current generation of the Volkswagen Polo, which has been available since 2017, recently received a fairly solid makeover. The nose was thoroughly overhauled: a modified grille, revised headlights and a different front bumper give it a slightly different look than we were used to. At the rear, the innovation is even more striking, with a different tailgate and lights that now extend further on that valve. The Polo GTI will soon also benefit from those changes. On this teaser photo you can see that the GTI will get a considerably sportier front bumper than is currently the case, with a honeycomb structure in it. The spotlights are housed in two of these combs. We also see that the typical red GTI line from now on runs lower through the grille and back into the headlights.

Wolfsburg does not yet comment on technical matters. For that we have to wait until the end of June, because then the canvas of the renewed Polo GTI will be lifted. Unless Volkswagen provides surprises, we can again count on the 2.0 TSI that produces 200 hp. Switching is done using a six-speed DSG automatic, or a manual six-speed gearbox. In both cases, Volkswagen gives 6.7 seconds as the time for the 0-100 km / h sprint and the top speed is 240 km / h.
