Sophie A Murder in West Cork

A brutal murder shakes Ireland to its very foundations. The French young woman Sophie is found dead in the village of Shull in 1996. Her death kicks off one of the largest murder investigations Ireland has ever known, and the investigation has the whole of Ireland under its spell. Netflix has now charted the circumstances of her death in three parts, including the perspective of Sophie’s family for the first time. In this mini-series, the entire crime is explained in detail.

America: the Motion Picture

Those who have always wondered how US President George Washington would do if he had chainsaws as weapons at his disposal, and who are curious about what kind of revolution a drawn superhero Abraham Lincoln would unleash, can indulge in the cartoon America: the Motion Picture. This film shows George Washington precipitating a British invasion of America with genuine American patriotism. The film is from the same makers as the Archer series, so you can assume that this film is full of tension, bizarre situations and a healthy dose of sarcastic humor. Of course, the United States of America is being ridiculed.

Sexy Beasts

Do you like appearance or can you see beyond your nose? The new Netflix dating show Sexy Beasts responds to this idea, but in a very special way. The participants all have a monster mask on and therefore do not know what their date looks like in real life. Naturally, the focus is more on the inside than the outside. But thanks to the special masks, the participants have a good topic for discussion right away. This regularly leads to hilarious but also very romantic moments!

The Water Man

A boy hears a story about a mysterious man who lives in the water and who is looking for a way to bring back his dead wife. When the boy’s mother becomes seriously ill, he decides that he must also look for the waterman in an attempt to heal and help his mother. For that, however, he has to dive deep into the woods. A mission his parents know nothing about. A double manhunt begins: the boy is looking for the waterman and his father is looking for his son.

A Classic Horror Story

Attention horror movie lovers! Do you know all the classic elements from horror movies? This Netflix original horror film uses all the horror movie clichés we all know: young people alone in the woods, an abandoned camper and unpleasant children’s music in the background. But is everything as it seems and is this another classic horror film? Horror film aficionados will in any case be able to indulge themselves when recognizing well-known scenes from established horror films such as Saw and Midsummer. But does this horror movie have the same famous ending where one person only survives out of the whole group? Who will say?

The 8th Night

This Korean horror film is about an ancient prophecy and an associated entity that is set free. When this actually happens, this entity leaves a trail of brutal murders in its wake. An unusual trio of a retired exorcist, a monk and a detective must work together to prevent the world from turning into hell. They only have eight days to do that.

The Last Letter from Your Lover

In her investigation, an ambitious young journalist discovers an affair between a couple from the 1960s. This romantic affair is revealed in love letters but has no happy ending. The journalist does everything in her power to discover exactly how this love story ended and what the circumstances were surrounding the affair. This romantic film partly set in the 1960s is based on a book by Jojo Moyes.

Prime Time

This Polish film is about a hostage situation at a television station. On New Year’s Eve in 1999, an armed man breaks into a live broadcast and holds the presenter hostage until he is allowed to broadcast his message on national live TV. This drama film was first screened at the Sundance film festival and will soon be released on Netflix.

The Hobbit: all movies

Attention Lord of the Rings fans! You can now run a full marathon on Netflix. This month all Hobbit movies will appear on Netflix and the Lord of the Rings movies will also be on it in its entirety. That means a lot of viewing pleasure with these magical films in which the young hobbit Bilbo Baggins sets out with a band of rough dwarves to chase the dragon Smaug from the mountain and the treasure that belongs to the dwarves. You don’t have to wonder how the story continues, because you can immediately stream the second and third film! From July 1, The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be on Netflix!

Rocketman

Although Sir Elton John is still in the land of the living, a film has already been made about his life. This movie is called Rocketman and will be released on Netflix this month. In it, we see a young Elton John struggle with his sexuality, his life and ultimately his fame once he breaks through. The role of Elton John is played by Taron Eggerton who also sings all the songs in this film. In addition, the film is of course just as bombastic and flamboyant as Elton John himself and you can expect not only his biggest hits but also more than enough colorful spectacles and his most famous crazy outfits.
