In Windows 10, drag windows to the left or right side of the screen to have them open side by side. Ideal for when you need to multitask. On a MacBook, you can also split the screen. We explain how you do that in this article.
Whether you’re in Become While you’re typing through a report or editing photos, while watching an instructional video: splitting your screen is just very useful from time to time. Otherwise, you’ll keep switching between windows.
Split View
You can also use two apps side by side on a Mac. This is called Split View. You can activate this mode by clicking the green button in the top left corner of a window Full screen display to click. Then choose in the menu Place window left in screen or Place window right in screen to get the app on a certain side of your screen. Do this for the other window as well and after that you will have both apps on one screen. To adjust the width of the windows, slide the vertical line between the two apps.
If you have an older version of macOS, namely Mojave, High Sierra, Sierra, or El Capitan, you must click the Full screen display keep pressed. The window will then be reduced in size and you can then drag left or right in the screen.
If you no longer want to use Split View, you can switch off the function again via the same green button, only then click in the menu that appears on Switch full screen display from.
If Split View doesn’t work, go to the Apple menu and then to System Preferences. Bee Mission Control you have to make sure Displays have separate spaces is selected.
Also on iPad
You can also use two apps at the same time on an iPad via Split View. Open an app and swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the dock. Then drag an app you want to use next to it to the left or right side of the screen and you can use the apps right next to each other. To turn a Split View into a Slide Over, swipe down from the top of the app. The Slide Over feature allows you to slide one app in front of another instead of putting them side by side.
