Version 69 of the Google browser allows you to customize the display of new tabs by adding shortcuts and changing the wallpaper. Here’s how to take advantage of it.
Google has just updated its browser with new functions. However, some are not yet available on Windows, even after updating to Chrome 69. In particular, adding a new tab displays a page whose design is identical to that of version 68 while ‘it should be different (you can click on the images below to enlarge them).

- To activate the new design, type chrome: // flags in the browser’s search bar, then type New Tab Page in the settings search box. Click the drop-down list to the right of the parameter Enable using the Google local NTP and choose Enabled in the list.

- Scroll down and repeat for settings New Tab Page Background Selection, New Tab Page Custom Links, New Tab Page Material Design Icons and New Tab Page Material Design UI.

- Click on the button RELAUNCH NOW to validate the modifications.
- If you click on the + button , in the tab area to display a new page, you will see changes in the display with round icons and the possibility of adding a new shortcut (click on the + button following the icons).

- You can mostly change the background image of a new tab. To do this, click on the small gear-shaped icon at the bottom right of the window. Be careful because it is difficult to see.

- A menu appears to change the wallpaper, either by loading a personal image or by choosing from the Chrome photo library.

- Click on the image that interests you and validate by OK.

All you have to do is appreciate the result.
