Illustrate your conversations with your own emoji using the Gboard keyboard.
Google has just deployed a new feature within its Gboard keyboard: the ability to create personalized stickers with your image.
Originally integrated into the Allo application released two years ago, this function is based on a selfie and machine learning. Based on the color of your hair, the style of hair, the shape of your eyes or the shape of your face, the application generates a series of stickers with your effigy that it is then possible to use in your conversations.
1. Download Gboard
Download the latest version of the Gboard app on your smartphone. As the feature is still being rolled out on Android, it may not yet be available on your device.
- Download Gboard for Android (Free)
- Download Gboard for iPhone (Free)
2. Access the stickers
Open a conversation in your messaging app and access emoji from the Gboard keyboard. Place yourself on the stickers and select the last icon in the line to bring up the Your minis menu.

3. Create a new sticker
Press the Create button. Your smartphone’s camera will trigger and display a frame in which you must place your face. When you are satisfied with the framing, release the shot. Gboard then launches into the creation of your minis.

4. Customize your minis
The app offers two different styles of mini you. Choose one and tap Customize to fine-tune your avatar’s style: face shape, hairstyle, eye shape, etc.
Once all your changes have been made, confirm by pressing Save then Finish. Finally, close the Gboard configuration options.

5. Use your stickers
Go back to your messaging app and open a conversation. Tap the emoji access button and then the stickers.
Select the custom sticker style to use, then scroll through the avatars and choose the sticker to use in your chat.
