The antivirus software includes a sensitive data manager to protect your passwords, bank details and secret notes.
Managing your passwords manually is not easy. In addition to having to use a unique password for each of your accounts, you must respect certain constraints to make them strong enough. If remembering one or two complicated passwords is quite possible, remembering the login credentials of dozens of services is close to impossible for ordinary people.
Fortunately, there are secure solutions that take care of recording your usernames and passwords and other sensitive data in a secure space. This is the case with Avast, which includes Avast Passwords in its antivirus solution. Here is how to use it.
1. Access the password manager
In the main Avast window, go to the tab dedicated to privacy, then enter the Passwords menu. Avast’s password manager displays four tabs: Password Guardian, a monitoring module that alerts you when a password cracker is detected (only available in the Premium version), Credentials, which logs your credentials and words Login Passwords, Credit Cards, and Secure Notes.

2. Add an account manually
You can start to fill in the password manager manually by going to the appropriate tab, then clicking on Add an account. The window that appears then invites you to enter the account name, the web address, as well as your usernames and passwords.

3. Install the browser extension
To get the most out of the password manager, Avast offers you to install the extension in your web browser. Go to the Browser Integration menu, then select the web browsers in which you want to install the Avast Password extension.

Thanks to it, passwords will be automatically saved and filled each time you connect to a site.

4. Generate strong passwords
When you create a new account or when you want to change a password, the Avast Passwords extension allows you to generate a strong password. Click the extension icon in the text field, then click the cogwheel to display the options.

Avast Passwords allows you to choose the length of the password and also its syntax: lowercase, uppercase, numbers, or even special characters.

5. Protect your passwords
Now that you have saved your first usernames and passwords in Avast Manager, you should protect access by setting up a master password. To do this, go to the settings by clicking on the icon representing a cogwheel, then in the first Security menu, click on Create the main password.

Choose a complicated password, including upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. Remember this, as this is the only password you will need to log in later. By entering it at each connection window, the registered usernames and passwords will be automatically entered.

6. Activate synchronization
If you plan to use Avast Passwords on multiple devices, you can turn on data synchronization. Enter the Synchro menu. and save, then click Activate.
Avast prompts you to sign in to your Avast Account. If you don’t have one, create one. All your usernames, passwords and sensitive data will be securely synced using AES-256 encryption on the Avast cloud.

7. Import your login details
If you are already using your browser’s password managers, it is quite possible to import your data into Avast. Go to the Import / Export Data menu, then click Import for each browser whose data you want to import.
