Apple has released another new test version of iOS 26.1! These changes come to the iPhone with iOS 26.1 beta 3.

A new test version of iOS 26.1 is available for developers! Apple has released iOS 26.1 beta 3. Apple mainly makes small changes to the iPhone in the software version. An important change in iOS 26.1 is Apple Intelligence, because all new features are finally available in Dutch. Apple Intelligence currently works with ChatGPT, but this will change in the future.
Apple has often indicated that Apple Intelligence should work with more language models in the future. Apple is currently still dependent on OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. In iOS 26.1 beta 3, Apple added codes that support language models from other companies. In this way, the software is prepared for integration of other AI models, such as Google Gemini. This means good news for Apple and users. Apple is no longer dependent on one company and Apple Intelligence works better with more language models.
Apple TV Plus is disappearing
iOS 26.1 beta 3 brings major changes to the Apple TV Plus app. The Apple TV app icon is much more vibrant, as the gray letters have been replaced with colored letters. It is not without reason that the symbol of the application is adjusted. Apple is discontinuing Apple TV Plus, instead the streaming service will now be called Apple TV. According to Apple, the modified icon of the application better fits the new identity of Apple TV.
Other improvements in iOS 26.1 beta 3 can be found in the iPhone settings. Apple has added a new menu called ‘Local Recording’. You can add this switch to your Control Center so you can easily record your own audio and video during a call. You can save these recordings and edit them later on your iPhone. This is especially useful if you regularly make professional recordings.
Release of iOS 26.1
The third test version of iOS 26.1 is a minor update for the iPhone, with which Apple implements a number of subtle changes. The farewell to Apple TV Plus is a particularly striking adjustment, which may have consequences for the Apple TV itself. A new generation of the Apple TV is expected later this year, but there is little chance that the device will have the same name as the streaming service. A name change for the Apple TV is therefore likely.
We still have to wait a while for the new generation of the Apple TV, but that does not apply to iOS 26.1. The new software version will come to all iPhones this month.
