Google is currently rolling out the first update for its Pixel phones with Android 12. It concerns the November security update that again fixes several vulnerabilities.
Security Update November 2021
Almost every Monday of the month, Google makes a security update available for its Pixel phones. These updates fix various issues and vulnerabilities in the software, so it is important that these security updates are downloaded and installed. Other smartphone manufacturers follow Google’s example, with Samsung often already providing various Galaxy smartphones with the new security patch.

Resolving problems
In the accompanying Security Bulletin of this month, Google indicates which vulnerabilities are addressed with this update. The company also lists the severity of the flaw, labeling the biggest vulnerabilities as “critical.” A total of 21 vulnerabilities have been fixed this time, five of which are considered critical. For Pixel phones, there are 10 vulnerabilities fixes and, for the first time in ages, a number of functional updates as well. The Pixel 6 Pro’s screen issue, which we wrote about yesterday, won’t be addressed until next month.
Notable improvements for the Pixel phones include a fix for notification sounds, stability for third-party apps, and broken app icons. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro also get improvements to Bluetooth audio quality in “certain scenarios”, better wireless charging in “certain orientations”, better auto-brightness, and fixes for both Wi-Fi connection stability and PiP video playback. in certain apps.
In the Pixel Phone Help Community Google will also announce which Pixel phones will receive which build numbers. Pixel phone specific bugs are also reported here.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are no longer included
Unfortunately, the time has come for the Pixel 3 and 3 XL owners: the period until which security updates are guaranteed has been reached. The phones from 2018 have already received an update to Android 12 and can still count on an update in the first quarter of 2022.

Install update
Do you have a Pixel phone? Then you get the update via an over-the-air update (OTA). You can also install the update manually and you can read exactly how to do that here. You can find the Factory Images here and the OTA files you can here find.
If you don’t have a Pixel phone, you have to wait until the manufacturer of your phone has rolled out the update. When that will be, then again depends entirely on the update policy of that manufacturer, and you can read more about that in this overview article. In this overview you will find the phones of all brands that are active in the Netherlands and Belgium, which get Android 12.
