Truecaller can help block both unwanted phone calls and text messages.

As soon as such a call comes in, a red screen makes it clear that it is probably unwanted. Via a Block List you can read which bubbles have been averted in the past. If you do not agree with a block, you can remove it. The same operation applies to SMS traffic. The app replaces the phone’s default phone book.
The app can be used for free, but also has a paid Premium edition (subscription). No ads are shown in that version. It also allows you to publish a profile (only after permission) in which you can partially share contact information with other users.
Truecaller has been in the news at various times. In 2013, the user data database was allegedly hacked. Truecaller itself indicated that it would be the website and no passwords or credit card details had been leaked. In 2019, a security expert discovered a security vulnerability in the system, which was immediately fixed by Truecaller.
