‘Alfa Romeo Giulia successor probably purely electric’

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is in the fall of its career and enthusiasts of fuel engines in Alfas better enjoy it. There will be a successor, but it will take a very different approach.

This is evident from the words of CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato. In conversation with Auto Express he hints that the successor to the Giulia will probably no longer be available with a fuel engine at all. That is even more specific than before. Yet it is not too much of a surprise, as Imparato also illustrates, since Alfa Romeo only wants to offer fully electric models from 2027. If a successor to the Giulia appears in a year or two, it is therefore logical that it is completely ready for the all-electric future of the brand.

Alfa Romeo will most likely opt for the STLA Large platform for the new Giulia. The hybrid chapter therefore most likely skips the successor. According to Imparato, however, it is not the case that the Giulia successor will be a weak substitute for the current mid-range car: “Even if it has a ton of batteries in it, I want to transfer the idea of nimbleness. That is fundamental to Alfa Romeo and we build on that. forth.”

So there lies a considerable challenge for the brand, because fully electric cars are not exactly known for their nimbleness. According to Imparato, there is also already thinking about a Quadrifoglio version of the Giulia successor, only then that has to make sense. If the brand cannot live up to that name with a fully electric car, then that variant will simply not come according to Imparato. That sounds like a fair approach, now we have to see if the CEO keeps his word.
