It hasn’t been that long since the AirPods 3 appeared, but the next release of the popular line of earbuds is already lurking. According to the latest rumors, the AirPods Pro 2 will be released in the fall of 2022.
AirPods Pro 2 coming: Fall 2022 release
Both Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo had already said that the successor to the AirPods Pro is coming in 2022. According to the latest rumors, this now appears to be in the third quarter (autumn) of 2022.
In addition, Gurman has said that Apple will make the AirPods Pro 2 smaller, by shortening or even removing the stems. Apple is looking at a rounder shape that fits better in the ear. Both Gurman and Debby Wu of Bloomberg had also already said that the new AirPods Pro will get a better motion sensor. The focus would therefore mainly be on fitness tracking.
If you keep the features of the AirPods 3 in mind, it is also possible that the second generation AirPods Pro will receive an IPX-4 rating. That would mean that you can use the AirPods 2 in the rain. In addition, it does not seem unlikely that the charging case will support MagSafe and that there will be new sensors in the earbuds.

The benefits of the AirPods Pro
The AirPods Pro are not a replacement for the AirPods 2, but a high-end alternative. One of the main differences with the AirPods is that the AirPods Pro has active noise cancellation (noise cancelling). As soon as you turn on this mode, ambient noise is filtered out, so that you can completely lose yourself in the music. Thanks to the ventilation system, you are also less likely to suffer from headaches or ear complaints.
