New Renault Kadjar caught – AutoWeek reader spot

Renault will launch an all-new Kadjar next year. Thanks to AutoWeek reader Lou Kamm we can show you the first pictures of that new Renault Kadjar.

While the new Nissan Qashqai is already exploring the European road network, sister model Renault Kadjar has to make do with the form in which it debuted in 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. Although the Kadjar was subtly facelifted in 2018, the model can no longer disguise its age. AutoWeek reader Lou Kamm ran into the new Renault Kadjar in Blerick, Limburg, and sent us two photos of the new SUV. Lou, thank you very much!

The Renault Kadjar that you can still find in the showrooms, appeared on the market two years after the previous generation Nissan Qashqai. The Frenchman shares his base with this. The new Qashqai grew a bit with its generational change. The latest incarnation of Nissan’s ever-popular SUV gained an extra 2 centimeters between the front and rear wheels and increased in length by about 3.5 centimeters to 4.43 meters. The Kadjar has always been slightly longer than the Kadjar, so the soon to be replaced Kadjar at 4.45 meters is slightly longer than the new Qashqai. It remains to be seen whether the new Renault Kadjar will go a step further.

We must disappoint anyone who had hoped for a fully electric Kadjar. Renault will eventually come with an electric SUV, which will be on the same platform as the Mégane E-Tech Electric. We expect that the new Renault Kadjar does share some design elements of that brand new electric newcomer. The new Kadjar may also benefit from the e-Power drivetrain that Nissan will soon also deliver in the Netherlands in the Qashqai. In any case, count on 1.3-litre petrol engines with 12v mild-hybrid technology.

To date, Renault has sold more than 13,000 Kadjars in the Netherlands. In its first full year of sales (2016), the SUV left the showroom almost 4,000 times. In 2019 1,645 units were registered and last year the sales counter of the model ended at 667 units. In the first ten months of this year, Renault managed to wear out 353 Kadjars.
