Lots of old and new in this extra thick double issue to kick off the year. For example, there is the farewell to the Citybug, but also the preview of the plans of car manufacturers. There is the anniversary of the Renault 4 but also the test of two electric sleds from Mercedes and BMW. We analyze the used car market and test multimedia systems in eight B-segment vehicles. And of course we look back at 2021.

As you can see in the photo above, a lot of new cars are coming together in one fell swoop. We do that for a very specific test. We look at how pleasant the multimedia system can be operated. In a test with eight little ones, together with two readers, we find out who has the 1’s and 0’s in order.

Of course we also have several ‘normal’ tests, including a double test with two large EVs. Tesla has lost the exclusive right to EVs with a decent range, because with the iX and the EQS, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are finally giving a serious answer. But how do those uber EVs, each with their own character, compare? Cornelis Kit finds out.

Even more electric? Yes, of course. Porsche recently presented the Taycan Sport Turismo. Say the Cross Turismo without the ‘off-road’ outfit. Of course there are more differences, partly because we drove the GTS.

There is also good news under the sun for the less exuberant wallet. Kia has helped the Sportage to a whole new generation. Armed with a special front and always electrified powertrains, the new Sportage tries to match the success of ten years ago. Is that going to work?

Those who do not like EVs or hybrid powertrains can indulge themselves in the double test of the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser. Two big guys who also have a big diesel engine in their nose.

As you are used to from us, there is again plenty of attention for occasions in this double-thick issue. How about a Klokje Rond inspection with a Honda Accord that lasts almost 4 tons? Honda has a name to uphold in this section. It will therefore be exciting whether this Accord also contributes to the good reputation.

After all, on the dynamometer we have a car that you may not have too fresh in your memory anymore: the Alfa Romeo Mito QV. A nice potent compact Italian who knows how to put a big smile on the face of his owner. Whether the Mito can also achieve this with Ghisbert van Ginhoven? We know how Italians like to disappoint on the rollers…
