Ford Crown Victoria (2011) – Into the Wild

You may be somewhat shocked by the year of manufacture, but it is really true. This Crown Victoria is from 2011. This makes it one of the last to be built, because in 2012 the curtain fell for the Crown Victoria after 15 years. The condition of this specimen does not really help in making a correct estimate of its age. After all, it’s not really neat. It’s really cool that he’s in the Netherlands and he deserves a warm welcome, especially since he’s only been there for two months! We thank Berend Lemkes for sending us the photos.

It may of course have been set up there, but the searchlight above the left side mirror is a hint that we are here with a former interceptor of the American police. The wheels also fit perfectly. The rectangular cutouts in the front bumper are also part of that story: originally the bull bar mounted on the nose of the car.

Anyone who had something on their conscience and saw this car in their rear-view mirror had better put themselves away. Although a smooth car might have been enough to escape you. The Crown Victoria, which weighs just under 2 tons, is not really a crack monster. A no less than 4.6-liter V8 with in this case an output of 253 hp propels it from 0 to 100 km/h in about 8.5 seconds. The Crown Vics were, however, relatively manoeuvrable for their size and, of course, in terms of comfort, it was also a good place for the officers to be on the road all day. That is also worth something.

Thousands of these Crown Victoria’s have been used as police cars over the years. The two generations before that also regularly wore a police suit. As far as we know there are no more Crown Victoria’s on the road as police cars in the US, earlier this year and last year major police forces said goodbye to their last Crown Vics.
