Kia EV6

After Opel failed to make the Ampera-e the first electric car, Volkswagen took up the gauntlet with the ID.3. Yet I expect that not Volkswagen, but Hyundai or Kia will achieve the real breakthrough of the EV. The Kia EV6 makes a big impression and is the harbinger of things to come soon: many affordable electric cars with a good range and superior charging technology.

The EV6 also seems to herald the end of the useless SUV hype. It is lower and more elegant than many competitors. Hopefully it is the harbinger of a new trend: that of the slightly raised liftback. Hoera!

Rolls Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost we had in March 2021 was one of the most expensive, but not one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever driven. With its stark white outside and inside, enormous dimensions and many glimmers, he reminded me of Elvis in his twilight years: way too heavy and ridiculous in his tight white glittery suit.

Nevertheless, the Ghost is already a historic car. Not because it had an important first, but precisely because it is probably one of the very last cars with a V12 as standard. It was a privilege to get a taste of this monument of refined engine technology.
