New Volvo can do more than turn on heating at home

Volvo is the first car manufacturer to fully integrate Google Assistant into its infotainment system. This means, among other things, that you will soon not only be able to switch on the heating at home from your Volvo, but also the other way around!

Google Assistant is Google’s equivalent of Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, and Microsoft’s Cortana. That means that you can also have a nice chat with Google Assistant. You can ask the smart piece of software questions, but you can also give commands to, for example, adjust settings on household appliances connected to the system. Google Assistant was already found in Volvo’s infotainment system with Google’s operating system, but will now be integrated further into the car.

The further integration of Google Assistant in the infotainment system will soon make it possible for you to warm up your Volvo from the comfort of your home by talking to Google Assistant. You can also remotely lock your car via Google Assistant. The new functionalities of Google Assistant will be rolled out to all Volvos with an infotainment system that runs on Google software in the coming months. Volvo is also expanding its systems with a YouTube application.
