Renault is almost ready to present the successor to the Kadjar. It listens to the name Austral and we now get to see it from the side on a shadowy plate.
With healthy anticipation, the French are waiting for the moment that they can finally show their latest creation: the Renault Austral. Less than two weeks ago, Renault shared photos of an Austral dressed in psychedelic print and now they are serving up a new photo. We can already see the Austral without any camouflage material on it, but there just happened to be a problem with the lighting in the photo studio. Can happen.
What we already see is that the Austral will show the necessary design-technical similarities with the Mégane E-Tech Electric. However, where that is a crossover, we can see the Austral as a full-fledged SUV, just like the Kadjar. One that – just like before with the Kadjar – shares its base with the Nissan Qashqai, only being a bit bigger than its Japanese cousin. 8 centimeters to be exact, because the Austral extends over 4.51 m. The Austral will in any case come with two mild-hybrid powertrains on the market: a variant with a 12V mild-hybrid 1.3 TCe and a 48V mild-hybrid 1.2 TCe. There is also a hybrid E-Tech Hybrid powertrain in the barrel, as the Captur and Mégane already have.
Curious about more? Then definitely get AutoWeek 2, which is still in the shops. In it we look extensively ahead at the Austral, including impressions of what the Austral will probably look like.
