Tesla Cybertruck postponed again: production in 2023

Tesla has again postponed the production start of the much-discussed Tesla Cybertruck. That is quite striking, because there is no shortage of competition.

In the summer, Tesla announced that production of the Cybertruck would start in 2022. That also meant a postponement at the time, but according to Reuters, it does not stop there. The news agency reports that the very distinctive electric ‘truck’ will only be off the production line by the end of the first quarter of 2023, in other words more than a year.

The delay is said to be due to Tesla’s not yet finished development and testing work. The fact that Tesla produces a good product is rather important, because the Cybertruck will certainly not be the only electric pick-up on the market in 2023. Ford has its F-150 Lightning, GM has the GMC Hummer EV and the Silverado EV and then there are also newcomers such as Rivian and Fisker. The Cybertruck remains a unique appearance within that range.

Tesla presented its electric pick-up in 2019. The innovative Americans always show a new product earlier than is usual with the competition, so some waiting time is not surprising in itself. Neither is the delay, but in the case of the Cybertruck, it’s somewhat inconvenient, given the increasing competition.
