Charmed by the Volkswagen ID Life Concept presented at the IAA in Munich last year? Then we have bad news. The design of that car ended up in the trash.
In September 2021, Volkswagen presented the ID Life Concept, a study model with which the brand previewed a compact electric model that is placed a step below the ID3 in the Volkswagen model range. Such a car will certainly come, but it will not resemble the ID Life Concept. That reports the German Automobilwoche.

The minimalist-looking design of the ID Life, in which even some design references to the first generation Golf could be discovered, would already have fallen out of favor in Wolfsburg. Chief designer Jozef Kabaň and his team would work on a completely new design that should be more modern and appealing to appeal to a young target group.
Although Volkswagen is putting the ID Life design through the shredder, the unveiling year 2025 remains intact. The little electric brother of the ID3 will therefore still be on a shortened version of the MEB platform that listens to the name MEB Short. The ID Life Concept had a 234 hp electric motor and a 57 kWh battery, good for a range of about 400 kilometers.
Do not be surprised if Volkswagen comes with several models in that class. For example, it could just be that Volkswagen with an ID 2 comes under the ID 3 and fills the space in between with an electric crossover.
