Spending time in quarantine can be challenging for many people. With our five tips, you will be able to use the time at home sensibly and keep a positive attitude.

This time at home can be very lonely and psychologically stressful, in addition to possible symptoms of illness. But this is the only way you can protect other people.
Our five tips will help you get through the quarantine better.
1. Regulated daily routine
A regular daily routine is particularly important during quarantine – at least as long as you are healthy. If you are struggling with symptoms, you should cure them in peace. However, if you are fit, it is still worth getting up on time in the morning. It is best to plan fixed times, for example for cooking, eating, working or for your sports program.
Outside of the quarantine, you probably do more sport outside, for example by jogging. There are also good alternatives for the time at home: Yoga exercises also work wonderfully in your own four walls. Alternatively, you can also use different fitness equipment – such as dumbbells or a skipping rope – train at home. Learn to hula hoop, the classic among sports during the Corona period. 2. Set clear goals
Setting goals for yourself while in quarantine also helps. This could mean, for example, studying for an hour every day, reading a chapter from a book, doing a workout, or cleaning up part of the house. Not only does the time go by faster, but you also spend it with meaningful activities.

Also think about how you can reward yourself after each goal you have reached: A delicious piece of cake, a cup of coffee or an episode of your favorite series are certainly good incentives. Maybe you also have a friend with whom you (virtually) pursue a certain goal: Because together it is often easier to motivate yourself.
3. Organize supply chain
If you’re in quarantine, you can’t go shopping yourself. It is best to make arrangements with people you can rely on as a precaution in case of an emergency. For example, ask friends, neighbors or family members to provide you with essentials during this time.

Include medication in your care, especially if you have symptoms. nasal spray (tip: Make your own nasal spray), tablets or a homemade cough syrup support you in recovery. Having enough tea around the house can’t hurt either.
4. Conscious media consumption
The long days in quarantine tempt you to spend an excessive amount of time on your smartphone or tablet. But you probably won’t be happier to follow your friends’ exciting activities on Instagram while you have to stay at home yourself.
It’s not easy for children either. As a guide, the “Look” initiative recommends that children and young people use media for ten minutes per year of age per day or one hour per year of life per week.
Use the quarantine to practice conscious media consumption. Set yourself fixed periods of time to use your cell phone and switch it off in between. For example, you can use the time without your cell phone mindfulness exercises and in this way counteract the stress of everyday life. Otherwise, use an analog alarm clock instead of your smartphone – it’s best not to take your cell phone into the bedroom at all. 5. Maintain contacts in a virtual way
During the quarantine, you should definitely pay attention to your mental health. It is certainly good for you to stay in touch with your friends and to share your concerns and experiences with them.
Call or write to the people you care about most regularly. Alternatively, you can also meet with them in a video conference. In this way you can, for example, organize an online game night against boredom.
Depression, loneliness and other negative feelings are not uncommon during quarantine. You can counteract this with regular meditation, for example.
