Sync for Reddit has been one of the better and most popular Reddit apps for ages. The developers are now reporting on (yes) reddit that the app will be redesigned based on Android 12’s Material You theme system.
Sync for Reddit in Material You style
Android 12 features a completely new design called Material You. If your phone is running Android 12, and the manufacturer supports the theme system, you can easily customize the interface to match the colors of the wallpaper you set. The clock, widgets and quick settings, among other things, take over the colors of the wallpaper and that ensures a more uniform whole. Most Google apps are already rigged in Material You style, but third-party apps aren’t quite into that just yet. We already saw Sleep As Android with this appearance, but after that it remained silent for a while.
Thankfully, Sync for Reddit is taking over and now announcing an update with new features, improvements and support for the new theme system. The developers are even ahead of things and are already taking the new Material You icons from Android 13 with them. In the screenshots below you can see the app with the Android 12 design, which immediately looks a lot more modern. Navigation bars at the bottom, plenty of space at the top to make one-handed operation easier and also in dark mode it works through dynamic themes.

Now, of course, you immediately want to try Sync for Reddit with the new design, which is understandable. Unfortunately, this is only possible via the dev version. Soon the update will also come to the beta version of Sync for Reddit, and the stable version will follow after that.
