Faster charging for Audi Q4 e-tron

Audi is introducing a series of minor changes and additions for its MEB-based electric models, the Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron. The biggest news: faster fast charging.

The extra fast charging capacity applies specifically to the versions with the large 77 kWh battery. In the price list these are the Q4 40, Q4 45 quattro and the Q4 50 quattro, of course regardless of the body shape. Until now, these cars could be pumped with a maximum of 125 kW, but can now handle 135 kW in a slightly redesigned form. With a ’40’, the loading time drops from 5 to 80 percent, which means less than half an hour, with a statement of 29 minutes.

This step does not come as a complete surprise, because the technically almost identical Volkswagen ID5 – which is again the smooth brother of the ID4 – was also able to do this. The Skoda Enyaq also received a similar update.

According to Audi, the shorter loading time is the result of optimized software, but does not yet apply to existing copies. The update also brings Amazon Alexa services, with voice control. In addition, the app has been improved, which should make it easier to plan routes, among other things.

Finally, there are a few minimal exterior changes, at least at extra cost. For example, there is now a Plus variant of the ‘Black Optics Package’, which also includes black Audi rings in addition to a black ‘grille’. That saves another trip to the wrapper for those who like it. In addition, the black paintwork is now available on all trim levels, where it was previously reserved for the Edition One introductory model.
