Volkswagen removes the Polo 1.0 MPI from the price list. The disappearance of the atmospheric three-cylinder, which was only available in the unnamed base version, means that the base price of the Polo has gone up considerably.
The Polo 1.0 MPI made that the compact Volkswagen was just under 20 mille in the price list. It cost €19,990. ‘Das war einmal’, because Volkswagen quietly removed this motorization and the nameless basic version from the price list, after the starting price was previously increased to €21,895. The 1.0 TSI was previously also available in that unnamed basic version, but that combination can no longer be ordered new. This means that the Polo 1.0 TSI Life with five-speed manual transmission now forms the bottom of the Polo range. The base price for a new Polo is therefore €24,590, €2,695 more than the deleted entry-level model last cost.
For that €24,590 you get a car with a richer equipment than the basic version from before. The Life includes things such as adaptive cruise control, alloy wheels and ‘App Connect’, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 1.0 MPI has not completely disappeared from the ranks of the Volkswagen Group, because the Seat Ibiza is still on the price list with the turboless block. It is available as a basic version Reference from €20,700. Last fall, that was still €19,700. The new Skoda Fabia has never had the 1.0 MPI on the price list. As a 1.0 TSI Greentech Active, it costs at least €20,290, which makes the Skoda of the triplets the cheapest.
