Mercedes just throws the complete interior of the EQS SUV online. With that we suddenly have a lot to discuss, because the SUV brother of the EQS is a spacious thing. We also get a better view of the outside.
Mercedes is officially making these plates available to the world to celebrate that the US factory in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama has started producing batteries for this model, among others. The EQS SUV itself will also be built here, but the actual news today – at least unless you work in Tuscaloosa – is of course the huge photo gallery that comes with it. It shows, among other things, the interior of the EQS SUV, in all its glory.
The car, which will actually be called ‘EQS SUV’, combines the screen splendor of the regular EQS with much more space and a third row of seats. This means that the EQS suddenly offers space for up to seven people. Mercedes would like to show with an EQS running through the sand that this is a true all-rounder, but secretly the interior of this ‘SUV’ mainly reminds us of the R-class of yesteryear. That’s right: a kind of super MPV. An important difference is of course that the EQS is completely electric.
Smooth shape
In addition to the EQS SUV, the EQE SUV will soon be built in Alabama. Like its sedan brother, that car is difficult to distinguish from the EQS, but there are clues. They are mainly in the relationships. The EQS is longer, the EQE looks a bit more rounded due to its more limited length. The ‘low’ EQE and EQS like to boast of their good aerodynamics. That is more difficult to achieve with an SUV, but for a high model these cars seem to score well. The EQS also has a fairly smooth shape and it is certainly not excessively high on the legs. The spacious interior is made possible by a relatively short nose, which also gives it that MPV-like appearance.
The EQS SUV will be fully unveiled on April 19. The car will also be built in Tuscaloosa for the European market, as will the GLE and GLS. And do you know which car once rolled off the production line here? Right, the R-class.
