Apple’s first foldable iPhone will have an electronic paper screen

It seems more and more that Apple is going to bring an iPhone with a folding screen on the market. Ming-Chi Kuo thinks he already knows the next scoop: a ‘paper’ screen on the front. Read more about this in this article e-ink display.

E-ink screen of iPhone: energy efficient and with color

We either do it right or we don’t. That is the motto of the Cupertino company. This rule of thumb also applies to Apple’s first (long-awaited) foldable iPhone. Ming-Chi Kuo, a trusted Apple analyst, now reports that on the front of this flip-open iPhone we will get an electronic paper screen with e-ink technology.

We already find this screen type in various e-readers. The interesting thing e-ink is the low energy consumption. According to Kuo, this screen comes with the foldable iPhone on the front. You can read your notifications or check the time on this special iPhone (maybe it will be called iPhone Fold?) via this e-ink screen. The difference with the e-readers? Apple’s e-ink display can show colors.

Our expectations of Apple’s foldable phone

Although we can only speculate about the arrival of a folding screen in the iPhone, it is already possible to list all the rumors. For example, we do not expect this phone until 2025 and Samsung and LG are involved in the process as suppliers.

In addition, it would be a large 8-inch screen. There has also been a rumor for a long time that this iPhone will support the Apple Pencil. This iPad/iPhone hybrid gets a fold down the middle, according to Kuo. In that regard, Apple would not differ greatly from the current folding one Android smartphones on the market.

foldable iPhone

Apple is so slow in announcing the foldable iPhone because the bendable screen isn’t durable enough. As said before: Apple only supplies quality products. It is therefore not certain that this foldable iPhone will actually come on the market. Apple more often tests products that are ultimately never announced. For example, the production costs can be too high or the quality of the device is too low.
