Get more out of your gear

Free VPN services aren’t just for PCs. For example, you can also provide extra security for your connection on an iPhone. The range in the App Store is huge, but which ones are really worth checking out?
VPN services provide an extra layer of security when you are connected to a (Wi-Fi) network. All your internet traffic goes through the VPN’s servers. This monitors network traffic and ensures that your data is not exchanged with the websites you visit and vice versa.
The best free VPN services to get more out of Netflix
Of course, this isn’t the only thing VPNs are ideal for. A powerful VPN can bypass Netflix’s geo-restrictions. This is because you can connect through different countries and areas. This allows you to stream titles that are only available abroad in the Netherlands.
1. Proton VPN
ProtonVPN is a good option if you only want to protect one device. The free version offers medium speed that is fine to use, but will falter if you connect multiple devices at once. However, if you are looking for a faster VPN connection, you will have to pay extra. The Premium version offers 10 gigabit-per-second servers. ProtonVPN has an excellent privacy policy and there are no data limits. To use the service you need to create an account, even with the free version. ProtonVPN Free offers three nationwide connection options.
2. Windscribe
Windscribe’s VPN connection is a tad limited, but still a solid choice for your iPhone. Instead of unlimited use, as with ProtonVPN, you get 10 GB of browsing per month with this service. In contrast, there are no device limits and you have 10 nationwide connection options. To access the service, all you need to do is provide your email address. Windscribe’s privacy policy is good, but it does track your data usage, so you stay within the monthly limit.
3. Hide.me
Hide.me has pretty good speeds, and like Windscribe, the free version is limited to 10GB per month. The VPN connector offers five connection options, including two US locations and one in Canada, Germany and the Netherlands. You don’t need an account to use Hide.me, making the service easy and fast to use.
4. Speedify 10
Speedify’s specialty is a seamless VPN connection between Wifi and smartphones. Usually if the WiFi connection on your smartphone is lost, you can no longer use the internet. Speedify ensures that you simply stay online in such cases. The service also allows for faster connection speeds. The downside of the free version is that you only get 2 GB of data usage per month. That is actually far too little. But if you’re looking for a simple VPN connector, Speedify is definitely worth checking out.
