WWDC 2022 is over again! In this first episode of our WWDC aftertalk, we’ll update you on iOS 16 and the updated CarPlay.
WWDC 2022 has a lot of news: iOS 16 and CarPlay
It was another feast of announcements at the WWDC 2022 (Worldwide Developers Conference). Already during the first day of this software conference, Apple announced many new functions and features. We got to see macOS 13 Ventura, watchOS 9 and iPadOS 16, among others. In addition, a new MacBook Air 2022 with the new M2 chip was also announced.
In our WWDC 2022 aftertalk video we show all new functions in understandable language. Today, in the first episode of the WWDC aftertalk, we discuss the topics of iOS 16 and CarPlay.

Aftertalk iOS 16: A Revamped Lock Screen
We see a new lock screen with the new software for your iPhone. This lockscreen has become much more personal. We think it’s great that you can now adjust the colors of the clock. Other lock screen innovations include widgets, a depth effect on the photos, and customizable fonts.
It is mainly the design that has been renewed. You can now also put special wallpapers on your lock screen. These transition smoothly to your home screen. The notifications can now be found at the bottom of the screen with iOS 16.

WWDC Aftertalk: Other iOS 16 Features
In addition, we see even more new functions in iOS 16. ‘Family Sharing’ ensures that you can create one photo folder with your entire family. Anyone can delete, edit or add photos or videos from their own iPhone. You no longer have to play clumsy tricks for sharing photos, because everything is now central.

The Messages app has also been revamped. Sent messages can be edited and deleted. ‘Live Text’ ensures that you can now copy text from (paused) videos in addition to photos. We expect that you will be able to download and install iOS 16 on your iPhone in the fall of 2022.

CarPlay: Will Apple Make Cars?
During the iOS 16 segment in the keynote, Apple also talked about a new version of CarPlay. This one looks quite different than before and is made for different types of screens. Electric cars that are now available have different sizes of the displays. Apple ensures that CarPlay looks universal, regardless of the screen(s) your car has.
The new CarPlay should look on every car as if the software was made especially for the car. Unfortunately, not much more was known about the new CarPlay software. We will reportedly not see the first car with this new software until 2023.
