Volkswagen Caddy now also likes natural gas

Volkswagen is expanding the Dutch delivery range of the Caddy with a variant that, in addition to petrol, also uses natural gas (CNG). AutoWeek can already report the price of the Caddy with 1.5 TGI engine.

Volkswagen supplies the current Caddy generation in the Netherlands as a California camping version, but the emphasis is of course on the delivery vans. The Caddy Cargo is available in both a short form and a longer Maxi (4.85 metres). Until now, both the short Caddy Cargo and the Caddy Cargo Maxi were available with diesel and petrol engines. There are 75 hp, 102 hp and 122 hp 2.0 TDIs and a 1.5 TSI of 114 hp. Volkswagen now also puts the 1.5 TGI on the price list. Indeed, a power source that likes petrol but prefers natural gas (CNG).

The new 1.5 TGI is for the time being reserved for the long Caddy Cargo Maxi and costs €25,100 excluding bpm and VAT. The 1.5 TGI is 130 hp and 200 Nm strong and always tied to a six-speed manual transmission. If you go all out with this, the Caddy Cargo Maxi 1.5 TGI should be able to reach a top speed of 187 km/h. You can reach 100 km/h in 12.2 seconds. On natural gas, the average combined consumption is 7.0 m3/100 km. The car weight of the Caddy Cargo Maxi with 1.5 TGI at 1,698 kilos is almost 190 kilos above that of the Caddy Cargo with 1.5 TSI and manual transmission.
