Five EV occasions for little

Electric car sales are increasing rapidly. It was also announced today that more and more used EVs are being imported. But: which EVs are currently the cheapest in our used range? With less than 10 grand in your pocket, the search will be tricky, but if you’re willing to make concessions, you can certainly succeed.

Renault Twizy – €5,750

Cheap EV occasions

The cheapest EV from the AutoWeek used car portal is this Renault Twizy, which is offered for €5,750. The Twizy is of course not really a full-fledged car with which you go on holiday, but it is also not a microcar à la Opel Rocks-e and Citroën Ami. You can drive up to 80 km/h with it. The mileage of 32,842 is illustrative of the fact that the Twizy is mainly suitable for covering shorter distances, but if that fits within your usage pattern, then you can’t go wrong with it for the price. Keep in mind that a rental price has to be paid for the battery.

Citroen C-Zero – €7.900

Five EV occasions for little

To keep the list fun, we are not going to list all Renault Twizys at the bottom of the EV range. However, between the Renaults we came across this Citroën C-Zero from 2013. At its introduction, the C-Zero was actually far too expensive for what it offered, but today it is quite an interesting offer on the second-hand market for people looking for an electric city car. In practice, the range is about 100 kilometers, you can transport several people with it and thanks to a top speed of 130 km/h you don’t have to avoid the highway. The private individual who offers it for sale is asking €7,900 for it.

Zhidou D2S – €9.900

Cheap EV occasions

A what? The undersigned did not know this Chinese car yet, but there is really a copy of it for sale in the Netherlands. The Zhidou D2S is a Chinese city rascal of 2.8 meters long, which resembles a microcar in appearance. Yet he is not: the D2S has a top speed of 85 km/h and can theoretically reach 150 kilometers on one battery charge. That makes it a pretty useful city car. The interior has a special color scheme of brown and beige, but looks pretty good in the photos. For example, the Zhidou has a digital dashboard and a large touchscreen. A good deal for €9,900? In any case, he seems to be able to do more than an Opel Rocks-e.

Renault Zoe – €9.945

Cheap EV occasions

Then we come to a more calibrated EV: the Renault Zoe. This copy is from 2013 and is for sale for just under 10 grand. There is a ‘but’, because you also have to rent the battery for this asking price. That will cost you at least €74 per month. The Zoe is more car than the used cars above. Not only is it a few sizes bigger, things like navigation, climate control, a parking heater, cruise control and a reversing camera are also present. With the 22 kWh battery you also get a lot further on one battery charge.

Nissan Leaf – €10,650

Cheap EV occasions

The Nissan Leaf was a pioneer in the EV field. The model already appeared on the Dutch market in 2011. This example comes from one of the first years of construction, built in 2013, which means that it has a battery with a capacity of 24 kWh and a power of 109 hp. In theory, this will get you 175 kilometers away, but in practice the range is rather around 100 kilometers. With a mileage of 88,599 kilometers, this example has about as much experience as the aforementioned Zoe, but the advantage of the Nissan is that you no longer have to pay for the rent of the battery. However, things like cruise control and a touchscreen are missing on this copy.
