Sony has announced a new smaller premium phone. The Xperia 5 IV is focused on creating and editing content. The phone takes many of the features of the Xperia 1 IV, but in a smaller size. It is for sale from 1049 euros.
Sony Xperia 5 IV
After the Xperia 1 IV that came on the market in the spring, Sony has deliberately transferred a lot of its functionalities to the new Xperia 5 IV. Just like the larger phone, Sony also puts it in the spotlight as a device for content creators.
That starts with the cameras that apply real-time autofocus with all lenses, and that is done by placing the screen on the eyes. During filming, your phone can therefore keep a subject that moves in focus. That now also works in the ‘Basic’ mode of the camera app. You can film with the Xperia 5 IV in 4K and at 120 fps with the three cameras. You can also slow down images up to five times with the slow-motion function.
Live streams and brighter screen
If you regularly do live streams with your phone, you can now do so directly from Sony’s Videography ¨Pro app. You can also combine it with a vlog monitor accessory that you can use as a viewfinder on the back of the Xperia 5 IV. You can purchase it separately. Furthermore, Sony has improved the selfie camera, and there is now a larger 12 MP sensor on the front. There is also still a physical camera button for taking pictures.

Furthermore, Sony again comes out with a 6.1-inch OLED panel that has a Full HD resolution and a narrow 21:9 aspect ratio. As with the Xperia 1 IV, the screen brightness has increased significantly with this phone: it is more than half brighter compared to its predecessor.
High-quality sound, bigger battery
The Xperia 5 IV also still has a set of stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack is present. The phone supports the sound effects of Dolby Atmos, the LDAC codec for hi-fi sound and also 360 degree sound. Together with the screen, the Xperia 5 IV can display content optimized for IMAX, which is a well-known standard for cinemas.
In addition, Sony claims that the Xperia 5 IV is extremely suitable for recording music and sounds. In the Music Pro app you can record, mix and store sounds in the cloud. Sounds then sound as if they were recorded with professional studio equipment, according to the Japanese brand.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Processor. It has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. You can always expand the storage via a microSD card. Furthermore, the battery capacity of the phone has increased significantly, as it has a 5,000 mAh battery, compared to 4,500 mAh in its predecessor.
