Why do surgeons always wear a blue coat when they have to operate? And why are those operating rooms usually painted green or blue?

When surgeons have to operate, they always wear a green or blue coat and the room is painted green or blue.

I was wondering if there is any reason for this.

For example, does that blue color calm you down?

Or is there no reason at all?

Thank you.

Answer

Hi Shari,
It is true that the green color was chosen because it is, among other things, a soothing color. You should know that sometimes you spend hours in an operating room. Green also does not reflect and is darker, making blood less visible.
