Answer
Hi Esther,
We are all busy, busy, busy… in these hectic times: texting, devouring emails, twittering, chattering and cackling, quickly putting the dishes in the dishwasher, quick Googling to plan a relaxing trip to faraway places. books, impatiently kicking at the crack of dawn before the shop doors open (bargains!), biting your nails while the traffic light is still on red, scheduling appointment after appointment in a busy agenda, …
Perhaps this is also recognizable for you?
Taking some time off, lying in bed, yawning, staring, … are precisely things that are no longer possible or that are socially inappropriate!
If you can only do the first, then there is a very good chance that you will live completely crazy on autopilot with all the consequences that entails.
When you can do activities (or non-activities) as you can, you end up for a while (or longer) in a moment where you forget the time, are carefree, park your daily thoughts, in a kind of ‘flow’ ends up.
Many only experience this time when they are on vacation, but you can also experience it when you are busy with an activity or just resting or staring or yawning.
It also has the advantage that at those moments, by being carefree and forgetting the daily grind, you sometimes get a boost of creative ideas!
So keep staring!
