My son sweats when he eats fruit. Both when eating apples, kiwis, citrus fruits, pineapple and strawberries. He does not have this with other types of fruit or food. Sweating is the only symptom. Does this indicate an allergy? Should he avoid these fruits because of the risk of a more serious reaction?

Answer
Best,
Sweating after eating fruit can indeed be a sign of an allergy. But often there are also other symptoms, such as a skin rash or swelling of the lips.
If in doubt, it is best to have a number of allergy tests performed by a doctor so that you know for sure whether or not it is an allergy and how serious it is (what the possible risks are).
