New colors for 2023 CB1000R

Honda has provided the CB1000R with a new coat of paint for the upcoming 2023 model year. The most remarkable thing about this is that the current Black Edition is now also available in the new Mat Jeans Blue Metallic. Is matte blue the new black?

New colors for 2023 CB1000R

After undergoing its major “Neo Sports Café” metamorphosis in 2018, stripping the bike down to the essentials and creating a fusion between a sports-naked and a bare-bones cafe racer, driven by retro-industrial minimalism, the CB1000R its first update last year, including the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system.

Secretly we had hoped for a major update for 2023, although we do understand that Honda has limited the news for the coming year only to new colors. The concept of a one-litre bicycle has been replaced by many brands in recent years and the CB1000R is also unique in its class thanks to its Neo Sports Café design.

For 2023, the CB1000R is available in the new color Bordeaux Red Metallic. The Black Edition has remained, which is really blacker than black, but what is new is that the Black Edition is now also available in the new Mat Jeans Blue Metallic.

Apart from carefully selected machined aluminum details – on the wheel spokes, swingarm plates, crankcase covers and triple clamp – everything on the Black Edition is black: the headlamp ring, windshield, fork legs, radiator cowls and airbox covers (with an anodized finish ), exhaust and muffler.

That is, when you take it in Deep Graphite Black. With the Mat Jeans Blue Metallic version, everything that can be seen is black, with the exception of the tank and the passenger seat cover, which are therefore blue, with now a black trim on the tank.

For 2023, the paintwork on the fuel tank is adorned with a new silver accent stripe to match the aluminum details – and a colour-coordinated passenger seat cover. A quickshifter is also standard. A machined ‘CB’ logo adds the finishing touch. Oh yes, the Black Edition comes standard with a flyscreen, cover for the passenger seat and up/down quickshifter.
