Adventurous study model

After the Renault 5, the Renault 4 is also revived in a retro jacket. At the Paris Motor Show, Renault pulls the curtain on a study that previews that R4 reincarnation, but not before sharing two more teaser photos.
How do you go into the future without forgetting your past? Well, for example by coming up with a fully electric car with a retro look. Renault will continue with that approach by coming up with a new Renault 4 and Renault 5, both of which will only be available with an electric powertrain. The concept version of the electric R5 was presented more than a year and a half ago, now it is the turn of the R4. Where the R5 Prototype is unmistakably a Renault 5 of this time, the new Renault 4 seems to deviate slightly further from its well-known source of inspiration.
On two new teaser photos, we see that the new Renault 4 takes over some elements from the original R, but at the same time also follows its own path. The nose looks familiar and on the C-pillar we see an illuminated frame that is directly reminiscent of the third side window of the old R4. The rear lights seem, just like in the past, to get three ‘storeys’. However, the proportions of the R4 concept car are quite different from those of the original Renault 4. It is quite wide and high on its wheels and also seems to have quite large wheel arches. The roof rack on the car further emphasizes that this is mainly a more adventurously dressed brother of the new R5.
Our illustrator already imagined the new Renault 4
Since they are on the same CMF-B EV base, you can probably see the new R4 mainly as a tall-legged alternative to the new R5 with otherwise similar technology on board. On October 17 we get to see the study model in its entirety, the production version will probably have to wait at least until 2024. The new Renault 5 will also be released in that year.
