1. Install security updates automatically

It is important to keep your iPhone up to date. That’s why we (usually) recommend downloading the latest iOS updates right away. Sometimes Apple also has minor updates that are important. To ensure that they are installed immediately, you should check whether the function below is enabled on your iPhone.

  • Tap ‘Settings’;
  • Go to ‘General > Software Update’;
  • Tap on ‘Automatic updates’;
  • Switch on the slider next to ‘Security measures and system files’.

2. Turn on battery percentage

It’s one of the most notable new features of iOS 16 and we’ve written about it many times in our iPhone tips. However, not everyone knows that this option is available again.

It is now possible to show the battery percentage in the corner of the screen. At least, on most iPhones. A few iPhones (like the iPhone 11) will have to wait for the iOS 16.1 update until they get the option.

  • Go to ‘Settings > Battery’;
  • Set the slider at the option ‘Battery percentage’ to on.

3. Location Services Status Bar Symbol

In the background, apps regularly ask for your location. You often get nothing from this. Would you like to know when an app requests your location data? Then you can turn on a status bar symbol.

  • Go to ‘Settings’ and scroll down;
  • Choose ‘Privacy and security’;
  • Tap “Location Services”;
  • Scroll all the way down and tap on ‘System’;
  • At the bottom, turn on the slider at ‘Status bar symbol’.

When an app uses your location information, you’ll see it at the top of the screen. An arrow will then appear next to the time.

4. Accidentally End Phone Call (Never Again)

Have you ever accidentally pushed someone away during a phone call? That’s because you locked the phone. However, there is an option to avoid this. This allows you to lock the iPhone without stopping the phone call.

How to avoid phone call suppression on iPhone

  1. Tap the ‘Settings’ app;

  2. Scroll down and choose ‘Accessibility’;

  3. Choose ‘Touch’;

  4. Scroll down and toggle the “Prevent lock to end call” slider to on.
