A magnet does not react, but a compass does. The stone makes the compass rotate 360 degrees.

The stone could possibly be a meteorite, although I consider that chance very small if you would have found the stone here in Belgium. The probability that it is a terrestrial rock with magnetic minerals in it, such as the mineral magnetite (Fe3O4), is many times larger. There is not much more that can be said.
