Two versions, little difference

BYD Atto 3 has a Dutch price tag

Importer Louwman announces what the BYD Atto 3 should cost. The electric crossover is more expensive with us than in Germany, but remains slightly cheaper than the car that we still see as its big rival.

The BYD Atto 3 costs a minimum of €42,998 in the Netherlands, or €549 per month in the private lease. For that money, the Atto 3 in Comfort version is ready. There is also a more expensive ‘Design’ version, but the difference between the two has little to do with design. Compared to the Comfort, the BYD Atto 3 Design offers Vehicle-to-Load technology (3.3 kW), which allows the car to be used to charge or power other devices. The Design also has an electrically operated tailgate, interior cleaning with ‘nano technology’ and, perhaps the most important, a touchscreen of 15.6 instead of 12.8 inches. They are both rotatable, so even with the smaller screen you can choose a portrait or landscape arrangement of the screen at the touch of a button.

In every other respect, both versions are exactly the same. This means that there is a choice of five colors for both versions, at no extra cost. Also, both versions always have the blue/beige imitation leather interior, even if you don’t like that color scheme. The interior is also very complete, including, for example, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, mood lighting and a panoramic sliding/tilting roof. Keyless entry, climate control, an extensive package of safety systems, LED lighting all around, a 360-degree camera and 18-inch alloy are also included.

Both versions also have an electric motor in the front with 204 hp and 310 Nm. The power comes from BYD’s pride, the ‘Blade Battery’, in this case with 60.4 kWh net. Which brings us to its major competitor, the Kia Niro EV. That car also has 204 horsepower. Its torque remains slightly behind with 255 Nm, but the battery pack of the Kia is slightly larger with 64.8 kWh. Kia gives 460 km as a range, the BYD Atto 3 comes 420 km on a full battery. BYD strikes back with its price, because the Kia Niro EV must cost at least €44,795. In addition, the Niro EV in basic trim Dynamicline without LED headlights, heated seats or a sunroof.

BYD says the first copies of the BYD Atto 3 will be delivered before the end of the year. Viewing is possible at Louwmans BYD dealers in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. In the future a number of such ‘Flagship Stores’ will be added, although we don’t know exactly where that will be yet.
