With 1.2 or 1.5?

The next generation Suzuki Swift will almost certainly get a full hybrid powertrain. That may not be the own powertrain that we already know from the Vitara and S-Cross, but one from Toyota.
Suzuki is busy developing the next generation of the Swift. The compact hatchback currently only has mild-hybrid engines in terms of electrification, but that will almost certainly change with the new Suzuki Swift. It may be obvious that Suzuki is spooning its own Full Hybrid powertrain into the Swift, only Coach India understands that this is not the case. The new Maruti Swift, the Indian equivalent of our Suzuki Swift, gets on board according to the medium technology of the Toyota Yaris.
It comes as no surprise that Suzuki shops at Toyota. Last summer, Suzuki presented the new Grand Vitara, an SUV for India developed by Suzuki, but built by Toyota and also used as the basis for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Although Suzuki took on the development of it, the Grand Vitara is also available with a hybrid powertrain that we know here in Europe from the Toyota Yaris. In it, a 91 hp 1.5 four-cylinder petrol engine serves, which, together with an electric motor, mobilizes a system power of 116 hp. Coach India has been informed that this powertrain will also go to the new Swift. At least in part. Instead of the 1.5, Suzuki would mount a new self-developed 1.2 three-cylinder in the Swift, the hardware that makes it a hybrid remains the same. The hybrid Swift will probably get a slightly lower system power.
It’s all still unofficial and it’s about information for the Indian Swift, so Suzuki may be following a somewhat different path for the European market and transfer the entire powertrain from the Yaris for our Swift. In any case, it seems a given that there will be a full hybrid Swift.
