Successful SUV Pioneer
In the Czech Republic, there is undoubtedly every day somewhere after work drinks, but at least two places that happened simultaneously. In Mladá Boleslav and in Kvasiny, to be precise. Skoda has produced its 750,000th Kodiaq, both senior management and factory personnel have undoubtedly toasted each other for that.
It has been six years since Skoda first hooked up to the SUV trend with the Kodiaq. In the meantime, high-legged models have become an integral part of the brand’s range. The Kodiaq was later joined by the smaller Karoq and the even smaller Kamiq. In six years, Skoda has sold 750,000 copies of the Kodiaq, which amounts to an average of 125,000 copies per year.
Since the Dutch market introduction of the Skoda Kodiaq, 13,447 units have been delivered in our country. This makes the SUV better than its smaller brothers in absolute numbers. About 9,650 copies of the Karoq, which appeared in the Netherlands at the end of 2017, have been registered in the Netherlands and the Kamiq, introduced in 2019, has made it to about 4,350 Dutch registrations to date. Last year, the Kodiaq only had to tolerate the electric Enyaq and the Octavia in the Dutch sales statistics, and that is also the case this year.
That Skoda is satisfied with the Kodiaq is apparent from the fact that it is now working on a new generation. The first early test samples of it – still disguised as the current model – have already passed the lens of our spy photographer.
