5 reasons why iOS is better than Android

Many people are either on the iOS team or the Android team. There is something to be said for both operating systems. While there are certainly some Android features we’d love to see on the new iPhone, there are plenty of reasons why iOS is better than Android.

The dailypick of OMT editor Sabine is (unsurprisingly) an iPhone. And that while she also has a (newer) Android phone. The five reasons that follow below give a good picture of why iOS still has the upper hand. Brace yourself, because here they come.

Why iOS is better than Android

#1 iPhone usability

When you switch between different Android smartphones, it sometimes takes a while to find your way. This is not the case with an iPhone. In addition, the many personalization options on Android can be a bit overwhelming for some users. Apple’s iOS is known for its simplicity and user-friendliness. It works well and is easy to use. What else do you want?

#2 First in line

A nice advantage as an iPhone user is that developers often release their apps and games first on iOS and only later on Android. Android has more iterations. Manufacturers use different software shells, which makes things a little more complicated for developers than on iPhones. Apple users are therefore often lucky and can sometimes get started with the latest apps months earlier.

#3 Apple ecosystem

We don’t deny that Apple products are on the pricey side. However, you do get your money’s worth. The Apple ecosystem is in fact very well put together. Your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Macbook, AirPods and AirTags work great together. Features like Airplay, Airdrop, iCloud, Handoff, and Continuity put the finishing touches on seamless productivity. Check that out on an Android device.

#4 Long-term updates

A major disadvantage of Android devices is that they no longer receive new system updates after two or three years. This varies by make and model, but Apple does it a lot better. The latest software version is also available on older iPhones, for example iOS 16 can be downloaded on devices from the iPhone 8. It appeared 5.5 years ago and has still not been sold by the Cupertino company.

#5 No bloatware on iPhone

Nobody is waiting for it and yet many Android smartphones are full of it: bloatware. You don’t need these pre-installed apps nine times out of ten and they take up unnecessary storage space. One brand likes it more than the other, but one thing is certain: with Apple you don’t have this problem. An obvious reason why iOS is better.
