On Baleno basis
As you may have noticed, the Auto Expo is in full swing in India. Suzuki looks pretty good. This brand new Suzuki Fronx is the brand’s third show debutant.
Suzuki has quite the taste. During the Auto Expo in India, the eVX presented a preview of an electric crossover that will also come to Europe and the brand conjured up a new five-door version of the Jimny. But there is more Suzuki news. What about this Fronx? A new crossover with – you guessed it – a steeply sloping roofline?
Suzuki calls the Fronx an SUV with the style of a coupe and by that the brand is undoubtedly referring to the model’s relatively steeply sloping roofline. The Suzuki Fronx, like many compact models for the Indian market, is just a few millimeters after 4 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2,252 meters. The car shows clear design similarities with cars such as this new Grand Vitara and the facelifted Baleno for the umpteenth time. The Fronx also shares its variant of Suzuki’s Heartect platform with that Baleno. At 2.52, the wheelbase of the Fronx is therefore the same as that of the Baleno, which has been discontinued in the Netherlands since 2019. The dashboard also corresponds to that of the warmed up Baleno.
The Suzuki Fronx comes with a mild hybrid 1.0 on the Indian market. That machine can be tied to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. There will also be a more conventional 1.2. That engine is linked to a manual five-speed gearbox or a robotized five-speed gearbox. As expected, the Suzuki Fronx will not be marketed in the Netherlands, the Dutch importer can confirm to AutoWeek.
