Heavily folded
After more than eleven years, the curtain finally fell for the Lamborghini Aventador at the end of 2022. Of course Lambo’s flagship will have a successor, which may already have surfaced on patent image.
In October 2022, the last Lamborghini Aventador rolled off the production line. The MurciƩlago successor has been in production since the beginning of 2011 and has had several variants over the years. From the SV to the SVJ and from the Roadster to the J: the number of versions was almost endless. An extensive series of derivatives has also been built on the basis of the Aventador, one of which was most likely a model for the successor to the Aventador. The patent image that has now surfaced shows the car that continues the bloodline of the Lamborghini Aventador and in which we see design influences from the SiƔn.
These patent drawings show a new Lamborghini which, as said, is very likely much more than just a new derivative of the Aventador. It shows strong external similarities with earlier snapped test copies of the officially still nameless Aventador successor. For example, not only do the taillights and the openings at the rear match what we saw on the packed test models, but also the placement of the exhaust tips and the curved rear deck. The huge cooling openings in the doors and the front view of the car on the patent plates are also the same as those on the prototypes.
The Aventador is the model within the Lamb0 ranks with the mighty 6.5 V12, but does the twelve-cylinder still have a future at Lamborghini? Certainly. The Aventador successor gets a twelve-cylinder with electrical assistance. So a hybrid powertrain for Lambo’s new flagship, but that’s no surprise. After all, the Aventador-based SiĆ”n and SiĆ”n Roadster, whose design elements trickle down to the Aventador replacement, already had a hybrid powertrain.
