Don’t drive too much

A Peugeot e-208 at your doorstep for only about €150 per month? None other than Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson states that such a thing will also be possible in the Netherlands. You just don’t have to be a mileage eater.
According to some leasing companies, futurologists and mobility experts, we are going to wave goodbye to our own car and instead drive more and more via subscriptions or sharing services. Whether or not that will happen, Peugeot wants to respond in any case. It sees a benefit in offering a lease contract with a modest monthly price and modest mileage. Talking to it AD explains CEO Linda Jackson that Peugeot has been testing this in France for six months now and it tastes like more.
In France, a monthly amount of €150 was used, for which you received a Peugeot e-208 at your doorstep. Quite a difference with the hundreds of euros you now lose if you want to lease that car privately. It is also considerably cheaper than, for example, the quite popular subscription that Lynk & Co offers for the 01, although that is of course also a considerably larger car. With some cars you have to spend €150 per month on mrb and (especially if you are young) insurance.
In short, it sounds too good to be true. There is indeed a major caveat to the story: the amount applies to driving 500 km per month. The French who participated in the pilot paid 7 cents per kilometer above those 500 km. Suppose you drive 1,000 km in a month, then you have lost €185. Still not crazy. “In this way you basically have lower costs and you can control the extra cost yourself,” says Jackson. She promises that the ‘Peugeot as you go’ baptized construction will also be possible in the Netherlands this year. “We will communicate the exact and final price for the Netherlands later this year,” says Jackson, who cannot yet clarify how long such a contract lasts, for example, and what any notice periods or other conditions are.
