Acceleration upgrade for Tesla Model Y

As before for the Model 3, Tesla is making an upgrade available that makes the Model Y accelerate faster.

If you want to get more power out of your car, you generally have to do (chip) tuning. At Tesla, the preparation for more is of course already available from the factory, so it is a matter of ‘unlocking’ those extras with an upgrade. For the Dual Motor version of the Model 3, an upgrade became available at the end of last year that takes a bite out of the acceleration time. The same version of the Model Y now awaits the same possibility.

In the United States, where the Model Y is already available, Tesla has put the ‘Acceleration Boost’ on the upgrade list. The 4.8 seconds that, according to Tesla, are normally required to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km / h) is reduced to 4.3 seconds by the upgrade. As with the Model 3, it is therefore about half a second gain. The difference with the Performance version of the Model Y is then still 0.8 seconds. In the US, the upgrade, which comes to the car over the air, will cost $ 2,000. Converted € 1,718. Undoubtedly, the Dutch Model Y drivers will also be able to tick the upgrade in due course.
