Since the introduction of Liquid Glass, the Phone app has a completely new look with a new, optional layout that combines favorites and recent calls.
Apple has combined the different tabs into one overview, where you can easily access your favorites, recent calls and voicemail messages. Nevertheless, you have the option to reactivate the classic view so that you can split the Phone app into multiple tabs.
Tabs merged into sleek design
The Phone app is the foundation of your iPhone and has seen little change in recent years. Together with the new Liquid Glass, the app has a new design, so all your favorites, recent conversations and voicemails are now in one place. By merging tabs you can see at a glance what you missed and quickly start a new conversation.

At the top of the ‘Calls’ tab you will find your favorites including their contact poster, and below that your recent calls are displayed. These include not only your missed calls and dialed calls, but also your Visual Voicemail messages.
Using the filter options (three horizontal lines at the top of the list) you can quickly view all your calls, missed calls, voicemail and spam.
Activate classic view
Would you rather have your favorites, calls and voicemail in separate tabs? Then you can use the steps below Classic view for the Phone app reactivate.
- Open the Phone app
- Navigate to the ‘Calls’ tab
- Tap the three horizontal lines at the top
- Choose ‘Classic’

The ‘call’ tab will immediately be split into several tabs. This gives you direct access to your Favorites, Recents and Voicemail. The latter is only used if you have set up Visual Voicemail and your provider supports this option.
