There are several websites for learning math, but Microsoft Edge now has a built-in feature to solve complex equations and other math problems. What’s more, Edge even shows you step-by-step how it arrived at the solution.
Step 1: Activate the button
The recent version of Edge has a built-in helper to solve math equations. By default, the button is not yet in the browser toolbar. So you have to add it first.
At the top right of the taskbar, use the button with the three dots and choose Settings. In the next window, select the option Appearanceso you get the command Show math help can activate.
If you don’t find that function, type in the address box edge://flags/. There you look for the option Math Solver in Microsoft Edge. And here you change the status Enabled. Continue with the button Restart.
Step 2: Enter problem
Clicking the button opens the sidebar on the right to solve math problems in a jiffy. This can be done in two ways: by choosing solve math problem or typing math problem.
In the first option, drag the mouse pointer over the equation displayed in the browser window and then click the button To resolve. In this case, you’re getting the problem from a webpage or from a PDF file you opened with Edge. Math Help even recognizes handwriting. In fact, you then take a photo of the assignment.
In the second case, an arithmetic keyboard appears. Type the problem statement using this virtual keyboard and press Enter. The solution is immediately displayed, along with the accompanying graph.
Step 3: Intermediate steps
At the bottom, Edge shows a few more educational videos that explain the solution of this specific math problem in English. There is also a function Show solution steps, with which the method with the accompanying step-by-step explanation appears in the sidebar. That way, you won’t be speechless when someone asks how you came up with the solution.
This Edge function can still be improved, because sometimes the solution is explained much too complex and the translation is not always perfect. But if you are in trouble with an equation, you will find the right solution here.
